substitute the value of l

168 = 2(( 6 + w) + w)

168 = 2( 6 + w +w)

subtract 12 from both sides

168 - 12 = 4w

156 = 4w

divide both sides by 4

39 = w

substitute the value of w in l = 6 + w

l = 6 + 39
