A natural cycle called cell turn over. Your bodies epidermis is constantly renewing itself. New cells are made in the lower layers of the epidermis, and move to the surface three or four weeks later. These new cells replace the other cells that fall to the ground, that are lost when you rub your skin, or scratch yourself when you get out of the shower.

FUN FACT: Your body sheds about 40,000 old skin cells a day!
