Also some other weak forces such as dispersion forces, dipole-dipole force, and hydrogen bonding also hold a molecule. But since these forces are very weak not enough energy is required.

Thus, it can be said that ionic compound hence take a longer time and higher value of temperature to melt than a molecular compound.
