What makes studying the beginnings of plate tectonics difficult?

Answer: it’s hard because rocks that are older are hard to find. And in order for scientists to be able to study the beginnings of the plate tectonics they need physical proof. Also the problem is that the oldest pieces of rocks have been subducted so the proof is long gone
