So far, the country has dealt with the controversial slavery question through a series of compromises. Why do you think these compromises will ultimately fail to resolve the slavery question, causing the country to eventually go to war with itself?

The compromises will never solve the issue of slavery because neither side is going to drop their view on it. The south will never want to give up slavery, and the north will never want slavery. In the end we will go to war and slavery will be terminated.
