Lincoln grew up poor in a log cabin. He was raised on the Indiana frontier and he was self-educated. The voters didn’t think he could amount to anything because he was of a lower class than the presidents before him. Until he made his speech, voters didn’t really agree that he was the best candidate. I hope this helps!!
