However unlike in ancient Greece , there was a system of direct democracy where people could randomly participate but this is not possible in the contemporary world because of its ever increasing populations. This is why elections are held so that people can chose their representatives who will represent different interest and issues varying from one person to another and on that basis , policies ate formulated for the welfare of the people.
