Muscles and organs require energy to function. They get this energy in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). Muscles and organs are made up of the cells. All the cells contain a special organ known as mitochondria. In mitochondria several reactions take place to break down glucose into ATP. This process is known as cellular respiration.
