The family structures were and still are affected by slavery because they tried to make the African family feel as weak as they could by taking away what made them strong the male figure in the family is supposed to be the “strongest” part of of the family, the person who holds together the family supposedly. Because again they wanted the Africans physically strong but mentally weak.
