The Great Depression did play a major factor in the start of World War 2 due to the falling in the economy.

Answer:

It was a contributing factor. Since the economy was already running low after the war and funds were low the depression happened. So you couldn't quite say it was the cause but it did happen shortly after/ during WWII.
