Why did Wilson propose the fourteenth point and what was created in response?

He made this plan to punish Germany lightly. He wanted “peace without victory”. He feared that if Germany was punished too harshly, they would hold a bitter resentment to the allies and possibly start another war. So Wilson wanted to be lenient on them. Also, in the plan he proposed to make a League of Nations. This was the only part of his plan that was implemented. Britain and France instead punished Germany harshly
