The difference between matter, mass, and volume is that:

Matter is a physical substance which can be touched, seen, smelled, and sometimes heard. It comes in different states: liquid, solid, gas, and plasma.

Mass is the measure of how much matter is in an object.

Volume is the measure of how much space is inside of a 3D object.
