How does third-person omniscient point of view develop theme in The Secret Garden? The point of view doesn’t affect the theme, because only Mary’s thoughts and actions develop theme. The point of view does not have any relationship to theme. The reader can see the characters' thoughts and observe the changes in the characters. The reader has no idea who is telling the story so doesn’t favor a particular character.
