If you were going to solve the second part of the equation you would distribute and since we want the number we chose to equal 8, so the sides will be equivelent and their will be infinite solutions, we have to account for the *4 so if we do 8 ÷ 4 we will have the number we should use for infinite solutions

8÷4=2

You can also check it by putting 2 in the equation

4x + 8 = 4(x+2) now distribute the 4

4x+8=4x+8
