In order to solve this problem, you need to know how to find averages. You do this by adding all the weights then dividing it by how many packages you have:

10 packages weighing 7.4 lbs.
12 packages weighing 8.2 lbs.
6 packages weighing 8.7 lbs

10+12+6=28 total packages

10(7.4)+12(8.2)+6(8.7)
=74+98.4+52.2
=224.6 total lbs.

Avg. = total lbs / total packages
Avg. = 224.6/28

Avg. = 8.02 lbs.

Answer:

Explanation:

average weight can be find as;

average=sum of quantity/no. of quantity

or sum=avg*no. of quantity.

now,

first shipment has total 7.4*10= 74 pound

second shipment has total 12*8.2=98.4

third shipment has total 6*8.7=52.2

now calculating the average of all three we get.

avg=(74+98.2+52.2)/3=74.7
