the immune system helps fight off viruses in the body as well as bacteria, but not all bacteria (just the bad). Think of the immune system as a videogame, where the immune system defends the body from different predators (viruses, etc.) Homeostasis regulates internal organs, just like the immune system. For example, the immune system will fight the common cold. That is why you do not have the cold every time.
