we know that

The area of the shaded region is the area outside the square and inside the circle

so

The shaded area is equal to the area of circle minus the area of the square


A=\pi r^(2)-b^2

we have


\pi =3.14


r=11/2=5.5\ cm ----> the radius is half the diameter


b=8\ cm ---> the length side of the square

substitute


A=(3.14)(5.5)^(2)-8^2=30.985\ cm^2
