The answer is C.
The pause in a sentence usually comes before the conjunction, so you can eliminate D.
B is incorrect because a semicolon is not used for a pause in a sentence, it is to connect two ideas in a sentence.
A is incorrect because ‘so’ is not a parenthetical phrase and does not need two commas, it only needs one in the front.
Hope this helps you.
