The power, P (watts), of a car engine is proportional to the square of its speed, S (m/s). When s=35, P=1760, Work out the speed (to 1 DP) when the power is 1820 watts.

Answer:

35.6 m/s

Explanation:

P = kS²

1760 = k× 35²

1760=1225k

1760/1225 = k

1.44 = k

P=1.44×S²

1820= 1.44 × s²

1820/1.44 = s²

√1820/1.44 = s

s= 35.6 m/s
