There are two reactants in the chemical reaction equation given for photosynthesis. Name each reactant, and name the stage that uses that reactant.

Answer: The reactants for photosynthesis are light energy, water, carbon dioxide and chlorophyll, while the products are glucose (sugar), oxygen and water. Photosynthesis takes place in two stages: light-dependent reactions and the Calvin cycle. Light-dependent reactions, which take place in the thylakoid membrane, use light energy to make ATP and NADPH.
