The length of a rectangle is 4 less than three times it's width. The perimeter is 72 feet. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Width = 10ft

Length = 26ft

Explanation:

Let width = b,

So, length = 3b-4

Perimeter of rectangle = 2x(length + width)

According to the question,


72ft = 2X(3b-4 + b)\\72ft = 2X(4b-4)\\36ft = 4b-4\\40ft = 4b \\b = 10ft

Hence,

Width = 10ft

Length = 26ft
