A delivery man starts at the post office, drives 45 km north, then 30 km west, then 70 km northeast, and finally 45 km north to stop for lunch. Use a graphical method to find his net displacement vector. (Enter the magnitude in kilometers and the direction in degrees counterclockwise from the east axis.)

Answer:

The solution to this is

The magnitude = 147.83 km and the direction = 81.0° counter clockwise (From east to north)

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this we graphically traced the location of the last stop ans measure the distance and direction from the starting point as well as solving this using trigonometry as follows

he Vertical displacement = 45 + 75 sin 45 + 45 = 146.03 km

The sum of the horizontl movement = 0 + -30 + 75 cos 45 + 0 = 23.03 km

Y = 146.03 km and x = 23.03 km and the magnitude = √(146.032 + 23.032) = 147.83 km

The direction = Tan-1 (146.03÷23.03) = 81.04° counter clockwise (north east)

Plese see the attached graphics

The magnitude = 147.83 km and the direction = 81.0° counter clockwise (From east to north)
