What is the meaning of the word adept as used in the passage? Use the antonym clumsy as a context clue to help you determine the meaning.

Martha, a new addition to the Hillsboro High School softball team. After much practice, she has improved quickly and become an adept hitter. On defense, however, she is still somewhat clumsy and frequently misses easy catches.

Adept basically means that she’s become a skilled or good hitter. It means that she wasn’t always a good hitter but has become “adept” to it
