Answer:

Histology is the branch of biology which is related to the study of tissues.

The following are the general steps which are to be taken to examine a tissue under a microscope.

  • Fixation:

Fixation protects the tissue from autolysis. It hardens the tissue due to which it becomes easier in cutting the thin sections of a tissue. Fixation is done with the help of chemicals like aldehydes.

  • Selection:

Selection is done to isolate the particular tissue which we want to observe.

  • Waxing

Paraffin waxing is done so that the tissue remains embedded.

  • Staining:

Staining is done so that the tissue can be seen and separated from other tissues.

  • Microscope

The tissue can then be observed under a microscope.
