Postpartum psychosis can be defined as a very rare psychiatric condition that occur in a mother after giving birth and can be characterized by symptoms such as

depression, severe confusion, loss of inhibition, paranoia, hallucinations and delusions.

All these symptoms are unhealthy and definitely places the infant at risk of injury or death.
