The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens. Hope this helps :) just in case and I didn't put a answer choice.. I put a better thing of writing it out.

The answer is “to appease Anti-federalists who opposed the constitution”

The reasoning for this however is because this have not only more rights to the states, but also more say and voice to those states who might have been ignored due to small populations size.
