When asked to define "popularity," Brianna offers, "It's when everyone likes you." Chrissy suggests, "It's basically the number of friends you have." How do the two definitions differ?

Being liked and having friends are different. Most popular people have 0 friends. Being liked is when a few or more people have decided that you are a likeable person. Having friends mean that you like those people back/have things in common and are able to hang out on at least a monthly basis.
