Why do the symptoms of certain viral infections occur after having disappeared for a period of time

Viral infections affect your immune system, when attacking it, your body works very hard to fight against them and sometimes causes a change in homeostasis as you might increase your body temperature (fever) or you might get a headache (increased blood pressure). All this can happen after the virus is “killed” because your body is trying to regain homeostasis (a balance)
