How are the terms autotroph, food chain, and heterotroph related?

Answer:

Heterotrophs get their energy by eating other organisms (fungi, animals, etc...).These are considered consumers. Autotrophs make their own food with light or chemical energy. (plants, algae, etc...). These are considered consumers.

Autotrophs are make their own food. For example plants are autotrophs and they get energy from photosynthesis. They convert solar energy into chemical energy. Heterotrophs gain energy and get their food from consuming other organisms. Autotrophs release oxygen into the atmosphere and heterotrophs breathe in that oxygen to grow and develop. The heterotrophs at the top of the food chain consume the ones at the bottom and the cycle continues
