Explanation:

Range means how far a line travels on the y axis. This line goes up to -1 and down to -5. The circles are filled in, meaning that that number is part of the range, so you would use a line under each inequality as an "equal to" sign. (I can't type that under my inequalities so I used <= instead.) If the circles were open, it would just be a < or > sign, without the equals sign or line under it.
