Amanda spent $73 on shirts. Tee Shirts cost $9 and long sleeve shirts cost $11. IN she bought a total of 7, then how many of each kind did she buy?

Total is 7

That is

L + S = 7

Total money spent is $73, while shorts cost 9 and longs 11

Hence,

9S + 11L = 73

We now have two equations we can solve simultaneously. From the first equation,

L = 7 - S

Putting this in equation 2

9s + 11(7 - S) = 73

9s + 77 - 11S = 73

2S = 4
