Although inaccurate in definition, these are events in which by their very nature may compromise the hospital's image or the credibility and for this reason it is mandatory that the Hospital make communication by written immediately after the incident with detailed description of the fact and adopted to prevent its repetition. Example of a sentinel event: Falling bed or operating table with severe impairment to the patient.
