As increasing fluid means increasing hydration. Hydration helps to reduce the viscosity of the blood, fluids help with healthier blood flow, pushing away the clots, improving oxygenation and tissue perfusion. Nevertheless one can simply not do any of the other things if the patient is not circulating blood.
