normalization is sort of a process of making something common or "normal." normalization of racial discrimination is the most significant relation to residential segregation. take the civil rights movement for examples: areas in the south had a tendency to normalize the every day evils of slavery. things like colored bathrooms and "whites only" restaurants are another example of said normalization.
