The New Deal was not perfect. The United States entered World War II, so I guess we’ll never know. The New Deal provided millions of jobs and saved millions of homes. Most importantly, it gave people hope.

What is the best revision of the second sentence in this conclusion?

I guess we’ll never know, because the United States entered World War II.

However, at a time of great despair, the New Deal did relieve suffering.

Maybe it would have been better if there were no New Deal at all.

I cannot understand how people can say it was a bad idea.
