Why is it important to make inferences when reading poetry?

Poetry is rather obscure in execution at times, the reader may not be given all the answers just by a cut and dry read. Making inferences and reading in between the lines helps the reader identify the meaning behind the chosen text the author is presenting. It gives you a broader understanding of the story, archetypes, and author intent in the poem :)

Because inferring is a skill that helps us understand the purpose behind any authors words.
