Honestly, as someone who loves (and does well in) English, I say give as much variety as possible. Remember that you can't use 1st or 2nd person pronouns, casual language, or contractions. Make it interesting for the reader by switching up the flow, but keep it in a logical order. Try not to use the same phrases over and over. Also, teachers love narrative in-text citations, pus they're less work to make.
