A submarine is 37 meters below sea level. The submarine goes up 12 meters and

then descends(down) 40 meters. What is the submarine's new position relative to sea
level?

Answer:

65 meters below sea level

Explanation:

so we can do one of 2 things, either 37-12+40, or -30+12-40, either way will give you the 65, just one will be a negative. obviously the submarine is going down, so if you do the positive way, just remember that it is negative.
