How can a character’s flaw be both a burden and a virtue?

This is the person who has achieved the excellence that Aristotle calls virtue of character. This virtue is the excellence of the part of the soul that does not strictly speaking, engage in reasoning. But can be trained to accord perfectly with reason's judgment about what is best.
