Paper clips are made of stainless steel. Steel is a mixture. There are different kinds of steel that have slightly different ratios of substances. Stainless steel is made of iron mixed with high-density metals. Carbon steel is made of iron mixed with carbon, an element with a lower density than metals. Would you expect the density of stainless steel and carbon steel to be the same? Why or why not?
