“To find 623, I can just take the value of 613 then either multiply it by 12 or divide it by 2.” Do you agree with her? Explain why or why not.

multiplying by 12 or a division by 2 changes the starting value drastically.

so, this cannot be right.

and dividing 613 by 2 also makes it even smaller. but to get 623 we need to make it bigger.

so, therefore, even without actually calculating the numbers, the statement is proven false.
