Dante's Divine Comedy inspired Michelangelo's masterwork, which Dan Brown mentions in his Inferno. It is Michelangelo's second largest fresco in the Sistine Chapel, behind the frescoes on the ceiling depicting stories from the Book of Genesis.

The Last Judgement depicts the second coming of Christ, as well as God's final and eternal judgement of all humanity.
