so,

height = 5cm

base = 4cm

now,

1/2 × 4 × 5

2 × 5 = 10 cm²

therefore, area of the AED is 10cm².

area of rectangle = l × b

length = 8cm

breadth/width = 5cm

now,

area of BCDE

8 × 5 = 40 cm²

now,

area of,

ABCD = BCDE - AED

ABCD = 40 - 10 = 30

therefore, required area of ABCD is 30cm².
