CD4 cells

The type of cell that HIV uses as a host cell by attacking and destroying such cell is called CD4 cells. It is a lymphocyte also referred to as T cells that is responsible for battling infections. Since HIV cannot reproduce on its own, it binds to a host cell which is the CD4 cell.
