You are going to want to plug in -1 for c and -4 for d. Then take -1^2 which is just 1. And -4^2 which is 16. Simplify in the next step, simplify again. When you get to -8/-18, the negatives cancel out and 8/18 reduces to 4/9.

Answer:

-8/14 or -4/7

Explanation:

(5c^2 - d^2 + 3)/(2c - 4d) given c = -1 and d = -4

Substitute the values of c and d into the given equation:

(5c^2 - d^2 + 3)/(2c - 4d)

=
(5(-1)^2 - (-4)^2 + 3)/(2(-1) -4(-4))

=
(5( 1 ) - (16) + 3)/(-2 + 16 )

=
(-8 )/(14) = (-4)/(7)
