Why is the theory of evolution considered a "theory"? Why is the law of gravity considered a "law"?

This is because scientists can only really guess how the earth started and got to this point. Even with evidence like fossils, etc. they still don't have clear answers for what really happened, and they still have no clue how the Earth was created in the first place, so that's why evolution is a theory.
