Sometimes they have to. My grandparents on my mother's side immigrated from the Ukraine. They had a living there but my grandfather sensed that things were going to change and not for the better. He worked hard (Canada) and 3 years later he was able to bring my Grandmother and 3 of his 4 children over to the New World. He had great courage and a very deep understanding of what was happening around him, so he left.

Sometimes people are attracted by land, sometimes by the promise of wealth, sometimes by what they were told by relatives. Different cases, different paths, but all cases it was to better themselves.
