What divides an era?

Answer:

The geological time scale divides up these time intervals. There are presently three geologic epochs recognized. The Paleozoic Era, Mesozoic Era, and Cenozoic Era are the three geological periods. Each of the Eras' names corresponds to a certain point in life's evolution. Hope this helped.
