let the first conductive number be x and other be x + 2

their sum is 36

so the equation is,

x + x + 2 = 36

2x + 2 = 36

2x = 36 - 2 = 34

x = 34/2 = 17

x = 17

and other odd number is

x + 2 = 17 + 2 = 19

smaller number = 17

greater number = 19
