To translate a statement such as ‘The sum of twice a number and 6 is equal to the difference of the number and 9’ write an equation using the definitions of the terms used. For example, sum means to add and difference means to subtract. The result is 2x+6=x-9. Develop your own statement such as the one above. Include at least four mathematical operations. Write an equation to represent the problem you develop.

Five less than the sum of two times a number and five is equal to ten times the quotient of the of the number and four.


(2x + 5) - 5 = 10 * (x / 4)
